Congratulations!
Congratulations, you've completed the HTML course! You've built a whole web page on your own, from the document type declaration all the way to a form.
So far, your page lives only in the editor. To keep it, save it as a file on your computer:
- Take the code you copied in the previous exercise (or copy the example in the editor here).
- Open a plain text editor, such as Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on a Mac, or a code editor such as Visual Studio Code. In TextEdit, first switch the document to plain text (Format → Make Plain Text).
- Paste the code and save the file as
index.html. - Double-click the saved file, and the page opens in your web browser.
Watch out for images: an image with an address like /learn/html/cats.webp won't appear on your computer, because that address only works on our website. Use the full address of the image starting with https:// (our cats are at https://www.startcoder.com/learn/html/cats.webp), or save the image into the same folder as index.html and write just its file name, for example src="cats.webp".
Your page works, but it still looks plain: black text on a white background. HTML describes what is on the page; how it looks (colors, fonts, layout) is the job of CSS. In the CSS course, you'll learn to style your page so it looks exactly the way you want.
Instructions
Congratulations on completing the HTML course! Save your page on your computer, and when you're ready, continue with the CSS course.
